The unimportance of grammar, education, and proper English.

Just visit the link ...

Those of you that know me well know very well that I can be somewhat of a grammar Nazi. I hate the lack of uppercase letters when necessary and the use of minimal, if any, punctuation. I cringe at juvenile spelling errors and I blame laziness and apathy. Don't write me a run-on sentence, because I just won't read it.

Seriously people, have some pride and concern ...

Let's be blunt - you look stupid when you ramble on and on in text without any punctuation. I also think you look stupid when you start a sentence with a lowercase letter, especially when that letter is "I". Why don't you use the apostrophe? Who failed to teach you the difference between your and you're? On second thought, who failed to teach you the difference between their, there, and they're? Did everyone receive THEIR education from the state of South Carolina?

Hey, facts are facts, and South Carolina is drowning in the education pool.

I for one am thrilled to see that people out there are attempting to correct the laziness and apathy in our language. Furthermore, I am appalled that the United States government cannot edit their signage or even pick out the errors in the first place. I pay a butt load in taxes and I'm thinking that at least some of that should go toward a governmental editor.

But wait ... perhaps the editor is not a valuable solution. Just this past quarter, which is only into week 7 of 10, I have found 3 typos/errors in nationally published, peer-reviewed, literature. My DSM IV (for those of you that do not know - that is practically the bible of psychiatric diagnoses) has a typo ON THE COVER for crying out loud!! On the fricken cover - and nobody noticed or cared to notice.

I am learning from these people!

Just one more rant about the language and grammar - does anyone even care that Barack Obama voted against making English the national language?!?! WHAT?! Soon there will be no United States. It will be the United Nations, and not in the sense of the current organization.

I become more and more disappointed in the American public every single day. We have absolutely no concerns except those that suit ourselves, and the selfishness is ever-apparent. Why should I have to use my turn signal? Fuck that person behind me or that has been waiting to pull out. What speed limit? My phone call is far more important than getting anywhere. Eh, who cares what my writing says about me? I don't care.

And that is precisely it - people just don't care. Lazy, ignorant, selfish, apathetic American public.
